Austin company to break ground on $200 million data center

data-foundry-2Data Foundry Inc. is ready to break ground on Texas 2, a 325,000-square-foot data center in Southeast Austin. When completed, the facility will be valued at $200 million, according to company officials.

The campus is located at 4100 Smith School Road near East Stassney Lane and Burleson Road and encompasses 40 acres. Texas 1 and 2 are co-location centers — that is, they will provide data center services to multiple clients. Texas 2 is projected to deliver in third quarter 2017. …Read Entire Post

Austin Proper is soon to break ground on former water treatment facility.

The 33-story Austin Proper Hotel & Residences is expected to break ground in the next few weeks after Goldman Sachs & Co. brought its hefty Wall Street weight to the table in support of the project on the site of the former Green Water Treatment Plant.

The Kor Group is close to moving dirt, the Austin American-Statesman reports. The merchant banking division of Goldman Sachs is now a capital partner, according to an Aug. 2 announcement. Schwab starting $86 million project in North Austin

Charles Schwab Corp. is poised to break ground on two buildings totaling roughly $86 million in new construction. Schwab purchased the property in August 2014, including the 187,000-sf Tivoli Building, which it recently spent about $14.5 million renovating. Oracle Corp. has started site work at its new Southeast Austin campus, the next step in a project that will transform a once-neglected section of the city that has experienced rapid gentrification in recent years.

The 25-acre site is near Lakeshore Boulevard and Pleasant Valley Road in the East Riverside Drive corridor. The parcel has been cordoned off by chainlink fencing and green tarps. The Northern California software giant declined to comment on the project. …Read Entire Post

The city of Round Rock announced June 15 it is working with a company to bring a destination hotel, conference center and water park to the city in a move that city leaders are saying could turn Round Rock into a tourist destination.

The Round Rock location will feature up to 1,000 guest rooms, indoor and outdoor water parks, and a convention center. The development will also include additional entertainment, recreation and other mixed uses on 334 acres on Hwy. 79 across from the Dell Diamond and Old Settlers Park, according to city documents. …Read Entire Post

The Texas Department of Transportation is breaking ground on its Mobility35 program to add between $4.3 billion and $4.5 billion worth of improvements to I-35 in Central Texas. TxDOT plans to break ground June 29 on I-35 improvements from Stassney Lane to William Cannon Drive in South Austin.

Mobility35, which TxDOT launched in 2011 in partnership with the city of Austin, the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, and other local leaders and agencies, are planned for 65 miles on I-35 from SH 130 in Georgetown to Posey Road in San Marcos. …Read Entire Post

183 South Project

Upon completion in 2020, the 183 South project will quadruple the capacity to drivers east of downtown Austin and open access regionally to the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

Construction will begin in May on the $743 million project, which will include building three tolled lanes in each direction on US 183 between Hwy. 290 and SH 71 and also include three nontolled lanes in each direction with bike lanes and a shared-use path.

The first phase of the project between Hwy. 290 and Techni Center Drive is anticipated to be finished in 2019 with full completion of the project in 2020.

Cielo moves ahead with innovative East Austin project with City Council's approval

Cielo Property Group is expected to break ground on The Foundry, an office and residential condominium project at 310 Comal St. The 95,444-sf development will include 78,324 sf of creative office space and 17 for-sale condo units.

Additionally, Cielo is trading property at 1409 and 1411 E. Fourth St. for land Habitat owns at 1600 and 1602 E. Fourth St. The new parcel will allow about 8,800 sf of additional development than could be entitled on the other parcel.

The Foundry mixed-use project could deliver as early as fourth quarter 2017.
