Flooring Services Southwest is relocating its Central Texas headquarters from Austin after closing on a 30-acre tract in the southern portion of the Commerce Center. Capitol Wright Distributing’s new 500,000-square-foot headquarters and distribution hub has delivered at 10095 U.S. Hwy. 290 East in Manor, TX.

Capitol Wright formed in 2015 following the merger between major Austin-area beer distributors Capital Beverage Co. and Wright Distributing Co. UPS distribution facility to begin construction in Round Rock.

UPS will build a new package distribution and warehouse facility in Round Rock following an economic development deal approved by City Council May 12.

The council approved an economic development agreement with United Parcel Service Inc., otherwise known as UPS, to open a warehouse and distribution facility as well as hire at least 314 full-time equivalent employees.

The agreement states UPS will purchase approximately 50 acres of land and invest at least $70 million in facility improvements and personal property. According to a release from UPS, the package processing facility will include automated sorting systems and will house approximately 300 UPS delivery vehicles. The Round Rock building is expected to open at the end of 2018. …Read Entire Post

Developer Trammell Crow Co. isn’t just working on the high-profile Green Water Treatment Plant redevelopment downtown. The company also has broken ground on 239,205 square feet of warehouse, flex and manufacturing space at the Expo Business Park between I-35 and Austin-Bergstom International Airport in Southeast Austin.

REOC Austin releases 1Q 2014 industrial market update

The local industrial market experienced a slow but positive first quarter. New leases and expansions were largely offset by tenant move-outs resulting in a rather quiet 82,407 square feet of positive net absorption for the first three months of the year.

As a result, the Austin industrial market closed the first quarter with a citywide vacancy rate of 10.6% which is unchanged from last quarter but significantly improved compared to 13.2% recorded in the same quarter the previous year.  Citywide vacancy currently sits at its lowest point in twelve years.

FedEx plans $33M expansion in Pflugerville

FedEx Ground will expand and consolidate its offices into a new $33 million, 250,000-square-foot building at 130 Commerce Center in Pflugerville.

The expansion will move the company’s existing offices from a 50,000-square-foot building on Pflugerville’s Royston Lane and make the new location the largest FedEx Ground facility in Central Texas.

REOC Austin releases 3Q 2013 industrial market update

The Austin industrial market closed the third quarter with a citywide vacancy rate of 10.8% – the lowest recorded since mid-2007.

Area industrial properties experienced a healthy 492,996 square feet of positive net absorption in the third quarter led by a rebound of activity within Warehouse spaces.  Year-to-date, the citywide industrial market experienced a total of 708,307 square feet of positive net gain which was fairly equally divided between Warehouse properties with 389,900 square feet and Flex properties with 318,407 square feet.

HEB to build big in Temple

HEB Grocery Co. plans to build a $20 million, 300,000-square-foot frozen food distribution center in Temple to supply 50 HEB stores from Austin to Dallas. The project, scheduled to break ground in October and be completed in June 2012, will adjoin HEB’s existing 450,000-square-foot distribution center there. The cold distribution center is expected to employ 40 additional workers.
