Pollo Tropical closes 30 more stores

The parent company of the Pollo Tropical restaurant chain, Fiesta Restaurant Group, is shuttering 30 locations, including two in the Austin area, as it prepares to relaunch the brand.

Fiesta also owns the Taco Cabana chain of Tex-Mex fast-food restaurants. Five of the Pollo Tropical locations in Texas could be rebranded as Taco Cabana units.

Austin suburb lands new grocery store anchored retail center

More retail development is headed to Georgetown, Cypress Equities of Dallas started construction Thursday of the 77,050-square-foot Oak Meadows Marketplace, a shopping center on 11.2 acres at the southwest corner of Williams Drive and Jim Hogg Road that will be anchored by a Randalls. Bebe plans to shutter stores, including in Austin area

Bebe Stores Inc. is planning to shutter its locations and become an online-centric retailer, according to Bloomberg.

Citing unnamed sources, the report says the Brisbane, California-based women’s retailer is trying to close the stores without filing for bankruptcy. Bloomberg’s sources say, however, that a Chapter 11 filing will be necessary if landlords aren’t willing to negotiate.
