High-rise development destined for another downtown Austin block

The Episcopal Church has selected Austin-based Cielo Property Group to partner in developing a church-owned block, with plans calling for a large mixed-use project, along with a permanent home for the church’s historical archives.

Whole Foods’ new 365 concept set to make Central Texas debut

The 30,000-square-foot store – the first 365 location in Texas and the first 365 store anywhere to be built from the ground up – is set to open its doors at 9 a.m. Wednesday. It’s in The Parke, a new shopping center at 5001 183A toll road.

Pollo Tropical closes 30 more stores

The parent company of the Pollo Tropical restaurant chain, Fiesta Restaurant Group, is shuttering 30 locations, including two in the Austin area, as it prepares to relaunch the brand.

Fiesta also owns the Taco Cabana chain of Tex-Mex fast-food restaurants. Five of the Pollo Tropical locations in Texas could be rebranded as Taco Cabana units.

Austin suburb lands new grocery store anchored retail center

More retail development is headed to Georgetown, Cypress Equities of Dallas started construction Thursday of the 77,050-square-foot Oak Meadows Marketplace, a shopping center on 11.2 acres at the southwest corner of Williams Drive and Jim Hogg Road that will be anchored by a Randalls. Bebe plans to shutter stores, including in Austin area

Bebe Stores Inc. is planning to shutter its locations and become an online-centric retailer, according to Bloomberg.

Citing unnamed sources, the report says the Brisbane, California-based women’s retailer is trying to close the stores without filing for bankruptcy. Bloomberg’s sources say, however, that a Chapter 11 filing will be necessary if landlords aren’t willing to negotiate.

Yeti Coolers LLC is ready to pull the veil off its first retail store at 220 S. Congress Ave. — a major step for the company to directly reach consumers, and a promising development for a long-vacant property at the gateway between downtown and trendy shopping to the south.

$114M sale of Oaks at Lakeway completed

After its attempt to sell The Oaks at Lakeway retail center fell through last year, Stratus Properties Inc. returned to the negotiation table. Its efforts paid off earlier this month with the successful sale of the property to the same buyer who previously experienced cold feet.

RD Management Acquires Shops at Tech Ridge

Tech Ridge mixed-use property.

RD Management has acquired Shops at Tech Ridge, for an undisclosed price. Excluding the recently vacated Target store, the 504,153-square-foot property is 96 percent occupied. Since purchasing the property, RD Management has signed a lease with Floor & Décor for 77,958 square feet of space in the former Target store.

The Limited to shutter store amid national downsizing

Amid a national downsizing, women’s clothing retailer The Limited is set to close its San Marcos store at the Tanger Outlets mall off I-35 south of Austin.

Austin developer buys downtown IHOP site

The IHOP at Interstate 35 and East Cesar Chavez Street was acquired late last year by WC 707 Cesar Chavez LLC, an entity the Texas Secretary of State says is linked to World Class Capital Group.
