Former Children's Museum downtown to house Google

Google Inc. recent leased 22,000 square feet at the former site of the Austin’s Children’s Museum located at 201 Colorado St.  The historic property, built in 1922, has remained empty since 2013 when the museum moved the newly named The Thinkery to 1830 Simond Avenue situated in the Mueller development.

According to the Austin Business Journal report, the California-based internet search giant also occupies two floors at University Park located at 3300 I-35 N and owns property at 9606 N MoPac Expressway and 101 W. Sixth St.

The Bowie to accommodate Whole Foods expansion

CIM Group and Seaholm Power LLC announce lease agreement with Under Armour at Seaholm Power Plant

CIM Group and Seaholm Power LLC recently announced that they have reached an agreement with Under Armour, Inc. to lease approximately 35,000 square feet of the low-rise building currently under construction at the Seaholm Power Plant project.

Dropbox chooses 501 Congress Avenue

The top three floors of the new six-story building under construction at 501 Congress Avenue (116,435 sf) have reportedly been leased by California-based Dropbox, a cloud-storage and file-sharing service.  The tech firm will occupy roughly 60,000 square feet when the building opens in January of next year.

Pre-leasing activity continues to fill Colorado Tower

Colorado Tower (373,334 sf), currently being developed by Cousins Properties at 303 Colorado St. in downtown Austin, recently signed up two new tenants for a total of 98,254 square feet. Recent leasing activity brings the tower to approximately 51 percent pre-leased with roughly 180,000 square feet still available for lease.

Midland-based Parsley Energy leased 73,843 square feet and will relocate its headquarters along with about 50 employees from West Texas.

Nordstrom to anchor The Domain Phase III

Nordstrom Inc. recently announced plans to open a second full-service store in Austin.  The two-level store, which will span roughly 123,000 square feet, will be located at The Domain, a mixed-use project located along MoPac near Burnet Road in North Austin.

The Domain Nordstrom is expected to open in the fall of 2016.

Websense Inc. will move its corporate headquarters to Austin and bring with it a projected 470 jobs and about a $10 million investment.

Work to start on Rollingwood Center

Endeavor Real Estate Group is about to break ground on Rollingwood Center on BeeCave Road.  The project will consist of two office buildings — one a four-story structure with 155,000 square feet and the other a two-story building with 60,000 square feet.

The project’s cost will be about $50 million, with the buildings scheduled to be ready in early 2015.

Ohio-based Dana Holding Corporation, supplier of driveline, sealing, and thermal-management technologies, recently finalized plans to occupy more than 40,000 square feet of space in the Scottsdale Crossing Commerce Park located at 5900 Hwy 183A in Cedar Park.
